The Congress has gained upper hand in Raghogarh Municipal Council elections in Madhya Pradesh, bagging a staggering 20 of the 24 seats and decimating the Opposition.
Out of the six Nagarpalikas, the Congress won four while the BJP could win at only two.
It was a tie between the BJP and the Congress as both the parties won chairperson posts in nine local bodies each, while an independent candidate (who was denied ticket by BJP) won the post of chairperson in another urban local body. Polling for Sarni municipal council election results was held on January 18 in Madhya Pradesh's Betul district.
One nagarpalika went to an independent candidate.

Rebel candidates marred the BJP's chances in many places, Mr. Chouhan told reporters at Mandsaur.
BJP State president Nandkumar Singh Chauhan, though, claimed that the BJP had won at many places. He, however, added that the party would review reasons behind its losses.
