The decision was taken during a high-level meeting of police officials in Karachi on Sunday, headed by Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Additional DIG Sanaullah Abbasi, who is also heading a committee formed to probe into the alleged custodial killing, Express News reported. According to the initial investigation report, the committee had termed SSP Anwar's allegations against Naqeebullah "baseless", sources said.In its report, the committee stated that there was no proof found of Naqeebullah being a terrorist.
"The committee is of unanimous opinion that in order to ensure fair and transparent enquiry of the incident and investigation into the case, SSP Malir Rao Anwar and SP Investigation-II East Malik Altaf Sarwar may be transferred and placed under suspension", read the press release issued by Inspector General of Police Sindh AD Khowaja.

Moreover, he appealed the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) to appoint a commission to probe into killing of 27-year-old Naseemullah, better known as Naqeebullah, for provision of justice to the deceased's family.

Anwar, a controversial police officer in Sindh, once told a crime reporter in an interview that he drew inspiration from Indian gangster movies, and that his desire was to clean up Karachi and rid it of political and religious criminals. They said the slain was arrested by policemen in plain clothes on Jan.3 from Gul Sher Agha Hotel in Sohrab Goth and then murdered on Jan.12. The case will be registered after Mehsood's family will reach Karachi. His relatives said he was fond of modelling and had a Facebook page with images from a recent photo shoot.
