"I have no concerns about his cognitive ability or neurological functions", Navy Rear Adm Dr Ronny Jackson told reporters at an extraordinary press conference at the White House yesterday after Trump's first physical examination as U.S. president. Trump does not look like a well man at all, but Dr. Ronny says he's in absolutely ideal shape.
"Based on his cardiac assessment, hands down, there is no question he is in the excellent range", Trump added. "He has incredible genes I just assume", Jackson said.
Critics began openly questioning Trump's mental heath this month following a tweet in which he said he has a bigger nuclear button than North Korea leader Kim Jong Un, and the publication of Fire and Fury, a book about the White House, in which anonymous Trump acquaintances questioned the president's mental stability.
The 71-year-old president performed "exceedingly well" on cognitive screening, which is not standard but was requested by Mr Trump.
Mr Trump's heart exam was normal, with regular rhythm and no abnormal sounds, which Dr Jackson said led him to conclude with confidence that Mr Trump "has a very strong and a very probable possibility of making it completely through his presidency with no medical issues".

On the upside, the president aced a key test of his cognitive abilities known as "the Montreal test", a series of challenges that can indicate early signs of dementia. "The President is in excellent health and I look forward to briefing some of the details on Tuesday". However, he did say that, in theory, a flawless score on the Montreal test does not necessarily rule out cognitive decline. "That's probably one of the reasons why he's been successful", the doctor said.
Jackson reports that the 6-foot-3 president weighed in at 239 pounds - three pounds heavier than he was in September 2016.
Trump's blood pressure was 122 over 74, and his total cholesterol was 223, which is higher than recommended.
President Trump, speaking on November 14, 2017.. "It's just the way God made him", he told reporters.
But Jackson, who served as the White House physician since 2013, found allies in former Obama officials who called him a "saint" and "a phenomenal doctor".

During a press conference Tuesday, the doctor was asked how the president could possibly be healthy with a diet loaded with fast food and up to 12 Diet Cokes a day.
An example of the sort of test Trump faced is available online.
"He is a male and he is in his 70s and he is overweight, borderline obese, and he has high cholesterol". Those numbers qualify him for having heart disease.
The rest of Trump's body is apparently doing fine, too.
"This was a bit of a snapshot in time", she said. "I think he will remain fit for duty for the remainder of this term and even for the remainder of another (four-year) term if he's elected".More news: Man (20s) killed in halting site shooting linked to Kinahan/Hutch feud
