Ahead of its presentation today at the Television Critic's Association, AMC has announced that The Walking Dead, the hit television show about grimy men with beards and the zombies that want to eat them, is being renewed for its ninth season.
A week after the Fear the Walking Dead premiere, Into the Badlands returns for its third season on April 22 in the 10/9c slot on Sundays. The Walking Dead recently celebrated a big milestone with 100 episodes.

Working on this series and having the opportunity to adapt Robert Kirkman's awesome comic has been a fangirl dream come true for me", said Kang. And while two of the show's principal stars haven't signed on beyond season 8, things are looking good for Andrew Lincoln and Norman Reedus to return in season 9.
"The Walking Dead" has suffered sizable ratings declines in its past couple of seasons: The first half of Season 8 averaged a 3.8 rating among adults 18-49 and 8.63 million viewers for initial airings, down 30 percent and 24 percent from Season 7 (5.4, 11.35 million). She also co-wrote the Season 4 finale with Gimple. The decision - made by showrunner Scott Gimple - was one that set a very vocal portion of the fan base into a rampage, even setting up an online petition demanding that Gimple was sacked from the entire franchise. He's since collected up as many comics, statues, and autographed material related to movies and music that he can get his hands on.
