There was no immediate information on whether the latest phreatic or steam-driven eruption produced a bigger ash cloud than the first two eruptions at around 5 p.m. Saturday and 8:49 a.m. Sunday, she said.
Automatic evacuation of residents from other areas from the six-kilometer danger zones such Camalig and Daraga were also ordered due to ashfall.
The Philippines volcanology institute on Sunday further raised the alert level for the Mayon Volcano from level one to level two, indicating that the volcano is exhibiting signs of "increasing unrest" that may trigger more ash falls, rockfalls and landslides.
"This means that current unrest is probably of magmatic origin, which could lead to more phreatic eruptions or eventually hazardous magmatic eruptions", PHIVOLCS said in a 12:30 a.m. bulletin, Sunday.
The incident prompted Phivolcs to raise the alert level on Mayon from Level 1 (abnormal) to Level 2 (ncreasing unrest).More news: Trump Gives South Korea Space to Ease Tensions With the North
During the first eruption, the volcano discharged grayish steam and ash plume approximately 2,500 meters high that drifted to the southwest portion.
"Since the eruption, rockfall events have been intermittently recorded and are continuing as of the time of the release of this bulletin".
"In case of ash fall events, which are most likely to affect communities on the western and southwestern flanks downwind of Mayon's crater, people should cover their nose and mouth with damp, clean cloth or dust mask", PHIVOLCS said.
People living outside the danger zone but on the slopes of volcano were warned to take precautions against potential roof collapses due to the weight of ash and rainfall. It was at its most deadly in February 1841, when 1200 people were killed and lava buried a town.
Its last eruption came in 2014 when thousands were forced to evacuate.More news: Harrods to return statue of Dodi and Diana to Mohammed Al Fayed
