FC Barcelona confirmed on Saturday that they have reached a deal with Turkish side Basaksehir to loan them Turkish global winger Arda Turan for the remainder of this season and for two more. Basaksehir's buy-out options remained unspecified.
It is somewhat surprising to see Barca let Turan leave on loan for such a lengthy period of time, given that he is surplus to requirements at Camp Nou and a transfer fee and a permanent departure would be more fitting for the 30-year-old.More news: Stocks to Lookout For: Huntsman Corporation (HUN), Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Limited (TEVA)
"In that time he has won 6 trophies: 1 league championship, 2 Copa del Rey, 1 Spanish Super Cup, 1 Club World Cup and 1 European Super Cup".
The club's president Goksel Gumusdag took charge of the negotiations, finally striking a deal with Barca's CEO Oscar Grau late in the week ahead of Saturday's announcement.More news: BHP Billiton plc (BLT) Given Consensus Rating of "Hold" by Brokerages
Despite his failure to fit in as one of Barcelona's premier stars, Turan is still in the prime years of his career and could be a valuable asset to Basaksehir if he's able to rediscover some of the form he displayed at Atleti and during his first spell in his home country.
Turan quit the national team in June 2017 but changed his mind a month later after positive talks with new head coach Mircea Lucescu. He became the sixth player in Barça history to score a hat-trick in the Champions League, after Messi, Ronaldinho, Rivaldo, Samuel Eto'o and Neymar. This also marked Turan's first hat-trick in European competitions.More news: Analysts Opinions on: AbbVie Inc.
