Kenya Airways, in a statement, touted the flight as the quickest way to get from East Africa to NY.
On Thursday, the national carrier began selling tickets for the inaugural flight, which is scheduled for October 28.
A return flight will then leave NY at 12.25 pm the same day and touch the ground in Nairobi at 10.55 am the following day. Passengers on the flights - billed to be fastest connection between East Africa and the U.S. - will pay Sh89,000 and Sh257,634 introductory fares for an economy and Premier World tickets respectively. The 15-hour flight will operate onboard a B787 Dreamliner, with 234 seats. From New-York it will depart at 1225 and land at JKIA at 1055 the following day. "This is a reduction from the current flight time of over 22 hours, including lengthy layovers", said Mikosz.

The Kenya Tourism Board has lauded Kenya Airways for the move, saying it was a big win for the sector in the country.
The airline already serves Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and cities in Asia.
Kenya Airways said the timings were set to allow connections to and from 40 African destinations. "Our guests are at the heart of everything we do at the airline and these two awards confirm our undeterred commitment to them".
