Corey Lewandowski, President Donald Trump's former campaign manager, will be interviewed next week by lawmakers investigating Russian interference in the 2016 election, according an official familiar with the House Intelligence Committee's plans.
The president's daughter encountered Kremlin-connected attorney Natalia Veselnitskaya and Russian lobbyist Rinat Akhmetshin outside the elevators in the Fifth Ave. skyscraper, the report indicated.
Mueller is said to be interested in ALL contact the two visitors had with Trump family members, even if it amounted to nothing more than pleasantries, which is just what a source says was the case in the exchange Ivanka had with the two visitors who were leaving the building, The Times reported.More news: Bearish Chart Formation for Southwestern Energy Company (SWN) After Forming Multiple Bottom
Mueller has also recalled one participant in the meeting for questioning as part of the federal probe into ties between the Russians and the Trump campaign.
"Even if you thought that this [meeting] was not treasonous, or unpatriotic, or bad ..., and I happen to think it's all of that, you should have called the Federal Bureau of Investigation immediately", Steve Bannon said in the new Michael Wolff book, Fire and Fury.
The meeting took place between Trump Jr., Ivanka's husband Jared Kushner, then-Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort, and the two individuals Ivanka Trump spoke with at the elevator. In July, after the New York Times published the story, Trump Jr. claimed that the meeting hadn't been consequential. Many allege the meeting happened so the lawyer could offer dirt on Hillary Clinton's campaign.More news: Windsor councillor calls for removal of beggars ahead of royal wedding
Beyond freakish. This is not a question of Mueller being thorough. It said that Trump Jr. had said he and the Russian lawyer had "primarily discussed a program about the adoption of Russian children", and was unrelated to the campaign.
Manafort and his former deputy, Richard W. Gates III, have pleaded not guilty to a dozen charges of fraud, conspiracy and money laundering connected to their lobbying work in Ukraine. White House aides stopped Trump from sending that letter, which described the investigation as "fabricated and politically motivated", according to the Times.More news: Radiohead reportedly suing Lana Del Rey over copyright infringement
