OH man dies after being struck by sandbag on overpass

Marquise Byrd, 22, was a passenger in a vehicle traveling southbound on I-75 that police say was struck by a sandbag.

Police say a man critically hurt after a sandbag tossed by juveniles from an OH interstate overpass smashed through a vehicle windshield has died. The driver, who was not injured, pulled over and then phoned 911.

Three 14-year-old boys and a 13-year-old boy were charged Wednesday with felonious assault in Lucas County Juvenile Court.

Sgt. Kevan Toney said the four teens will likely face additional charges in wake of Byrd's death.

"I was just driving underneath the bridge and something hit my auto".

Byrd died Friday night, police said.

A Warren, Michigan man has died after four teens allegedly threw a sandbag onto I-75 from the Indiana Street overpass on Tuesday. She said Mr. Byrd was not moving and she thought the windshield "smacked his head". They were arrested after officers spotted them leaving an area near the overpass.

Toledo detectives continue to seek additional evidence in the Byrd case and ask anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at.
